AGR dues: Telecom corporations owe round Rs 22,589 cr as licence charges; relaxation Rs 70ok cr is curiosity, penalty


New Delhi: Telecom corporations’ unpaid licence charges quantity to Rs 22,589 crore, whereas curiosity and penalties took the entire legal responsibility to Rs 92,641 crore, sources stated.

The licence price is the main element of the entire Rs 1.47 lakh crore AGR (Adjusted Gross Income) dues owed by each operational and non-operational telecom corporations to the federal government until July 2019.

Moreover licence charges, telecom corporations owe Rs 55,054 crore in spectrum utilization prices (SUC), as per estimates of the Division of Telecommunications (DoT).

As telecom operators scramble to adjust to Supreme Courtroom order on AGR dues, the sources stated precise pending legal responsibility relating to licence charges is Rs 22,589 crore.

The unpaid licence charges of Bharti Airtel was assessed at Rs 5,528.52 crore, Vodafone Concept Rs 6,870.69 crore, Tata Group Rs 2321.31 crore, Telenor (now merged with Airtel) Rs 529.02 crore, BSNL Rs 614 crore and MTNL Rs 876.39 crore.

“These estimates were prepared in July. The fresh calculation is in process,” an official supply stated.

In the meantime, Bharti Airtel has paid Rs 10,000 crore, Vodafone Concept Rs 3,500 crore and Tata Group Rs 2,197 crore for each licence price and SUC dues.

One other supply advised PTI that the DoT has discovered that circle places of work haven’t adopted the uniform course of and have been “cherry-picking” figures submitted by telecom operators within the calculation of AGR dues.

The DoT on Three February issued a letter with pointers to all Controller Common of Communication Accounts to reconcile AGR dues and requested them to present 15 days time to operators for the submission of appeals and paperwork associated to deductions they make within the last cost, sources stated.

“Any delay in payment of licence fee payable, or any other dues payable under the licence beyond the stipulated period attracts interest at a rate which will be 2 percent above the prime lending rate of SBI,” the official supply stated.

The official additional added that within the case the entire quantity paid as a quarterly licence price for the 4 quarters of the monetary 12 months falls brief by greater than 10 per cent of the payable licence charges, then a penalty of 50 per cent of the whole brief cost is levied on the telecom operators.
